Summit Pacific College Announces Dr. Andrew Evans as the Next President

Summit Pacific College is pleased to announce that Dr. Andrew Evans has been appointed as the seventh President of the College. He will commence his role in the Summer of 2026, following the retirement of Dr. Dave Demchuk.

After over a decade of pastoral ministry, Dr. Evans joined the team at Summit Pacific College in 2010 as the Director of the Youth Ministry program. For the past 15 years, he has invested in the next generation of youth pastors serving students across the country.

Dr. Evans completed his undergraduate degree at Summit Pacific College (fmr. formerly Western Pentecostal Bible College), before undertaking a Master's at Trinity Western University & Canadian Pentecostal Seminary. In 2016, he completed his Doctorate of Ministry at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, with a specialization in emerging generations. Dr. Evans is a leading academic voice in next-gen issues, discipleship, and spiritual formation. Outside his faculty role, Dr. Evans has served on the Academic Senate and Operations Committee, providing strategic insight and direction to the College.

Dr. Evans is proud to call Abbotsford home, where he lives with his wife, Nelia, and their children. Actively involved in the community, Dr. Evans volunteers with numerous local organizations and his local church.

“On behalf of the British Columbia & Yukon District and the Summit Pacific College Board of Governors, I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Andrew Evans as the next President of Summit Pacific College. After a thorough and prayerful national search, it became clear that Dr. Evans is an exceptional leader with the vision, character, and spiritual maturity needed for this pivotal season.

We have incredible confidence in his ability to guide Summit into a vibrant new chapter of impact, one where students are deeply formed, well-equipped, and boldly prepared for the ministry opportunities ahead. We genuinely believe great days are ahead for Summit Pacific College under Dr. Evans’ leadership.”

- Rev. Mark A. Lewis - BCYD PAOC District Superintendent, Chairman of the Board of Governors

“During his time at Summit, Andrew Evans has proven himself to be a professor of the highest calibre.  He is also a capable administrator and a pastor committed to developing a generation of Pentecostal leaders with a passionate spirituality. It's my honor and pleasure to commend him to you as the next President of Summit Pacific College.”

- Dr. Dave Demchuk, President

This announcement marks the culmination of a comprehensive search process, under the guidance of the Board of Governors and with the support of the Presidential Search Committee. The committee, comprised of board, staff, alumni, and BCYD pastoral representatives, undertook significant stakeholder engagement to ensure alignment with the vision and mission of the College. Beginning in March, they engaged with hundreds of staff, students, alumni, and credential holders before developing the job profile, and engaged numerous candidates before making a recommendation to the Board of Governors.

“Throughout this process, we engaged with strong candidates—each bringing meaningful experience, character, and a heart for ministry. With much prayer, discernment, and the thoughtful input of our community, the committee unanimously recognized Andrew Evans as the leader who carries both a deep love for Summit and a proven commitment to Christ-centred leadership. Over his many years at the College, he has earned the confidence of our alumni and partners, and he is especially respected and trusted by those who matter most—our students.”

- Rev. Debbie Tonn, Member of the Board of Governors

Dr. Evans looks forward to connecting with students, staff, and other stakeholders as he prepares to lead Summit towards continued success in the coming years. Further details will be released in the coming months regarding Dr. Evans’ official inauguration, which will take place this Spring.
