"Jesus saw the people of his day as sheep, harassed and helpless, desperately needing a shepherd. The greatest need in Canada today is for shepherds, spiritual servant leaders, called and anointed by God who truly care for people, understand their times, and have the courage, skills, passion and integrity to lead like Jesus did. At Summit Pacific we are committed to creating the environment where such leaders are shaped. I am finding it an ideal place to fulfill my personal vision statement: to finish well by intentionally investing in committed learners by sharing with them my life experience, resources and networks in order to leave a legacy of reproducing spiritual leaders, hungry for continual growth in Christlikeness and ministry effectiveness."
Pastor Fred

Fred Fulford brings a wealth of pastoral experience to Summit. Fred grew up in manses on the prairies. During studies at McGill University, he responded to God's call to pastoral ministry himself. After serving as youth pastor in Victoria BC, he and Micki pioneered Mississauga Gospel Temple in Ontario (14 years). He then served as senior pastor in Evangel Church in Kelowna, BC for 12 years before coming to Summit Pacific in 1996. Fred and Micki have two young adults of their own, JP and Rachelle.

Our ministry formation philosophy calls for a balanced blend of the experiences of the ACADEMY, the ABBEY and the APOSTOLATE so that graduates are marked by biblical relevance, spiritual maturity, and ministry competency.

As an ACADEMY, we seek excellence in the pursuit of understanding truth. All truth is God's truth. Today's pastors must have a coherent and thoroughly biblical worldview to communicate with relevance and credibility.

  • Our general studies courses (philosophy, psychology, English literature, sociology, and history are taught by believing Trinity Western University instructors (who commute to Summit). These university credits are transferable anywhere.

  • Our Bible and Theology courses are taught by Summit instructors and form a solid foundation for thinking, preaching and ministering theologically. Many of these courses are transferable to TWU.

As an ABBEY, we foster an environment where the vital spiritual disciplines of meditation, prayer, seeking God, worship, and relating Christianly in community are developed, and the ancient Christian virtues (fruit of the Spirit) are nurtured.

  • Celebrative and meditative chapel service.
  • Student led small groups.
  • Faculty led koinonia meetings.
  • Spiritual emphasis meetings and retreats.

As an APOSTOLATE, we are committed to providing supervised ministry opportunities on and off-campus where ministry skills are honed and spiritual authority is nurtured. Ministry competency and church management skills must be developed on the job.

  • A smorgasbord of student ministries are available during the freshman and sophomore years.
  • Students develop a portfolio of ministry experiences with evaluations.
  • Internships are arranged with supervising pastors in BC (and Washington) churches during junior and senior years.
  • Most assignments for all practical pastoral courses are related to the student's current ministry setting.
  • The BC & Yukon District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada in partnership with Summit has a seven year integrated ministry formation plan for Summit Pastoral Theology students.
